Citrus (15-15, 9-6 Western State Conference)

Richie Roseli

Glendora, CA - Freshman Catcher Richie Roseli collected three runs, hits and RBI as Citrus defeated L.A. Mission on Thursday afternoon, 8-4. The Owls pulled out the victory despite being out-hit 12-11 in the contest.

Luis Hernandez (3-4) went six innings for the win, allowing eight hits and just one earned run. He struck out four batters before giving way to Michael Brun, who allowed just one run in two innings of work.

Daryl Hall was brought in for the final inning, holding an 8-2 lead. The Eagles, however, wouldn’t go quietly, scoring twice and loading the bases before a strikeout ended the contest.

Citrus (15-15, 9-6 Western State Conference) also had a big afternoon from Matt Ross, who hit a two-run homer in the third inning, on a towering drive to left field. Ross finished with two runs and two RBI. Eddie Crespo also scored two runs and collected his team-leading ninth stolen base of the year. Brendan McQuaid had two hits in the winning effort.

L.A. Mission (5-22-1, 3-11 WSC) got seven innings out of starter Pierre Ramirez (1-4), who allowed eight runs (four earned) on ten hits. The Eagles committed four errors in the game.

Citrus will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to LA Mission for the back end of this home-and-home series. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
