Glendora, CA - The Citrus Owls threw a combined two-hit shutout on Saturday to claim a 9-0 victory over San Bernardino Valley College. Earlier this season they defeated SBVC 4-0 with an identical two-hit shutout.

Julian Arballo (1-0) got the start against San Bernardino and went six innings, striking out eight batters and allowing just two hits. The offense backed him up well, posting seven runs on seven hits in the third inning to put the game out of reach. Eddie Crespo led off the inning with a bunt single, extending a ten-game hitting streak. The next six batters each got a hit, capped off by a grand slam by Chris Moore. All seven runs had scored before the first out was recorded.

The bullpen did a strong job of keeping the shutout alive, never surrendering a hit. Michael Gonzalez came in for two innings and struck out two batters. Chris Magallanez sealed the deal as he struck out two more in the top of the ninth inning. Combined, the Owl pitchers had 12 strikeouts while walking just three batters.

Moore finished the day batting 2-for-4 for Citrus (6-7) with four RBI and a stolen base. Richie Roseli had three hits while Steve Guzman and Courtney Montgomery had two hits apiece.

San Bernardino Valley struggled all afternoon as just one player, Robert Nugent, picked up both of their hits.

Citrus will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to face Bakersfield College, opening up play in the Western State Conference.
