Matt Ross 

Glendora, CA - Sophomore Matt Ross hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning on Tuesday afternoon, scoring Justin Fellhauer from second base for a 6-5 victory over the College of the Canyons.

Matt RossRoss, who is headed to NAIA power Concordia University next season, was nearly pitched around in the ninth, after Fellhauer took second base on a wild pitch. He was able to reach for a ball up and out, but in the zone, driving the pitch up the middle for the walk-off hit.

Ross is batting .362 on the season and leads the Owls with 39 RBI, 15 doubles and seven more runs. He has also walked a conference-high 31 times this season.

Citrus (20-21, 12-11) had just seven hits in the game, two of which coming from both Fellhauer and Chris Moore. Carlos Cineceros also had a hit and two RBI for the Owls. Michael Brun went eight innings for Citrus, allowing just five runs despite giving up 16 hits. Julian Arballo (3-2) coughed up a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth inning, but records a win to go along with the blown save.

The Owls will close out the 2006 season on Thursday as they travel to face Canyons for the fourth and final time.
