Glendora, CA(Baseball) – Thomas Korn may be the most unlucky pitcher in all of the WSC. Although he leads the Fighting Owls with the lowest ERA on the team, Korn was on the losing end of all 6 of his starts. In his 7th start of the year today against LA Mission, Korn finally got his first win of the year with a 10-2 thrashing of the Eagles.
Korn pitched a brilliant game only giving up 2 runs over a full 9 innings of work. Korn struck-out a season and team high 14 batters, while only giving up 6 hits. While Korn usually takes care of the visitors, it’s his offense that has struggled behind him throughout the year, but that wasn’t the case today as the Fighting Owls exploded for 10 runs against the Eagles.
Citrus kicked things off right giving, Korn a 2-0 lead after the 1st inning as Ryan Cornejo continued to terrorize WSC Pitching, leading things off with a double, before going 2 for 3 for the day. Tony Mancuso also had an impressive outing going 2 for 2 and driving in 3 RBI’s for the Fighting Owls.
Citrus scored in every inning except the second, fifth, and sixth, drawing from 11 hits spread over those 8 innings. Dennis Dunn also proved to be spectacular at the plate as he went 2 for 4 with a 3 RBI’s performance as well.
The win is the 3rd straight for the Fighting Owls, and for the first time this year, they move above .500 in conference play. Citrus record moves to 8-15 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while Korn’s record improves to 1-6.
