Baseball Back in Playoffs for First Time Since 2003

Glendora, CA (Baseball) -- The Citrus College baseball team is back in the California Community College State Baseball Playoffs for the first time since 2003. The Fighting Owls earned the #17 seed and will play at #16 Rio Hondo in a single-elimination play-in game Tuesday.

Citrus easily had its best regular season in over five years this past season. The Fighting Owls finished in second place in the WSC South and posted a 24-16 overall record and 17-11 mark in conference games.

Rio Hondo comes into the 2009 playoffs as co-champions of the Foothill Conference. The Roadrunners tied for first place with Mt. San Jacinto College and ended up with a 24-16 overall record and 20-4 record in conference play.

The winner of Tuesday’s game will earn the right to take on the #2 seed from the South, Orange Coast College. That match-up will be a best two out of three affair to take place Friday and Saturday.
