WSC Championships in San Luis Obispo 

The 2006 Citrus College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Team has a long road ahead with plenty of tough races on the docket, but if their recent performances hold true the Owls should be just fine when it comes time to race in the WSC Championships in San Luis Obispo on October 24th.

On Friday September 8th the Owls participated in the SoCal Preview one of the largest races in all of California featuring 34 Men’s and Women’s Teams from in and around Southern California. The Lady Owls showed some impressive promise as they finished 20th. Chrsitina Soto was first in with a 24:01 time good enough for a 86th place out of 175 runners. Gina Woosky also had a strong time as she ran a 26:12. On the Men’s Side Frank Aldar was through the finish line first for the Owls with a 25:42 good for 88th place out of 123 runners. Vincent Delgado and Pierre Moreno paced each other with Moreno finishing with a 26:15 and Delgado coming just 18 seconds behind with a 26:33 finish good for 114th and 123rd respectively. The Men also finished 20th.

This past weekend the Owls continued their journey as they traveled to San Luis Obispo for the Cuesta Invitational. Once again Christina Soto paced the group as she finished with a time of 23:27 and 26th place finish. Gina Woosky was right behind her with a 23:52 time and a 29th place finish out of 54 runners. On the Men’s Side they were once again led by Frank Aldar who finished with a 24:06 time and 20th place finish out of 83 runners. Vincent Delgado was not far behind him as he ran a 24:26 and 26th place finish. As a team the Owls finished 7th out of 11 teams.

The Owls will run again this week as they travel to Huntington Beach for the Golden West Invitational this Saturday September 23. The race begins at 9:00 am.
