Who: The Fighting Owl Cross Country squad looks to continue its move up the Western States Conference ladder. Last year the men’s squad finished 9th out 13 teams with a 8-16 record, while the women fared even better finishing 6th in the 13 team conference with a 12-10 record. Both men’s and women’s squads hope to build upon last years building blocks by returning some experienced veterans and with a few fresh faces.
On the men’s side the Owls will be led by returnee’s Hector Cordova, a state finalist in 2004 out of Gladstone High School, and Vinny Delgado who in is first year of running ran the 1500 in 4:27. In coming freshman Frank Aldaz (9:45 in 3200), Hashem Baila (sub 4 1500), Pablo Estrada (10,000m runner), Pierre Moreno (1500 and 5000m), and Adam Vasquez (3,000 Steeplechase) all hope to add to the fold and make the Owls a Women's Cross Country Runner in Actioncontender in the WSC
         For the women Nathalie Valentin (12:40 3200m) and Gina Woosley, who was named Track’s Most Improved, will be the leaders of the women’s squad as they are the lone returnees. With the addition of Lucy Ocegueda out of Baldwin Park and Tina Sota (12:30 3200m), the Lady Owl’s will once again a tough competitor in the WSC.
         Both men’s and women’s squads have high hopes for their chances in the always distance strong Western State Conference. The Owls hope to advance to the SoCal championships and eventually make a push for the State Championships.

What: The Citrus College Athletic Department fields 18 athletic squads 9 women’s and 9 men’s. The Owls are perennial contenders in the Western State Conference, which contains 19 different community colleges in and around the Southern California area.

Where: The 2006 Cross Country Schedule will feature tune-ups that take the Owls from San Luis Obispo, Bakersfield, Huntington Beach, and even more locations across Southern California. The Owls will even get the chance to host their first WSC sponsored meet since the late 90’s, when the fierce competition from around the Western States Conference squares off at Bonelli Park in San Dimas, CA on Fri. Oct. 6th

When: Everything starts for the Owls on Saturday September 2 at 9:00 a.m. when the Owls participate in the Moorpark Invitational. After the home hosted event at Bonelli Park the Owls will participate at the WSC Championships at Cuesta College on Tues. Oct. 24th. With a little luck and a little hard work, the Owls hope to then move on to the SoCal Championships on Nov. 3rd and then onto State on Nov. 18th.
