Walnut, CA (Cross-Country) -- The 2007 Citrus College cross-country season has come to a close for all but one Fighting Owl runner. Both teams ran well at the SoCal Championships this past weekend, but only freshman Jennifer Bustillos will advance to the state meet taking place on November 17th in Fresno, CA.
The women once again had a strong showing finishing 28th out of the 33 scoring teams. The Lady Owl runners were paced by Bustillos, who finished 92nd out of the 233 runners participating. Her time of 21:40 was just seconds in front of Christina Soto who finished in 110th place with a time of 22:10.
On the men's side, Christian Ramirez was the Fighting Owls top runner finishing in 145th place out of 221 runners with a time of 24:30 as he averaged just over a six minute mile on the 4-mile course. Adolfo Cortez and Cory Eazell finished behind Cortez in 169th and 177th respectively, with respectable times of 25:38 and 25:55. The men as a team would finish 30th out of the 33 scoring teams.
