Owl's Cross-Country Takes Off at Bakersfield Invitational 

Bakersfield, CA (Cross-Country) -- The 2007 cross-country season continued this past weekend for the Fighitng Owl's as they traveled north to participate in the Bakersfield Invitational. Both the men's and women's teams failed to score, but the Fighting Owl's did have some impressive individual performances from both the men's and women's teams.

On the women's side, Christina Soto turned in the performance of the day, running a 21:41 over the 5K course. Soto's finish was the best of any Owl, male or female, as she took 15th place out of the 50 competitors on the women's side. Finishing behind her was Elizabeth Granados whose time of 23:41 put her in 31st place.

Christian Ramirez turned in the best time of any Citrus runner on the men's side. Soto averaged a 5:57 mile over the 4-mile course, and finished with a time of 23:49. Soto's time placed him 24th out of the 68 runners competing this past weekend. Finishing neck and neck behind him were Adolfo Cortez and Taylor Sparkman. Crotez turned in a time of 25:01 just seconds ahead of Sparkman who recorded a time of 25:07.

The Fighting Owl's will be back out on the course this Friday as they to Irvine, CA to participate in the SoCal Preview hosted by Irvine Valley College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 A.M.
