Chino, CA (Cross-Country) -- For the second week in a row, Citrus College Lady Owls Vanessa Esquivel and Cynthia Acedo helped lead the Citrus College women's cross-country team to a strong finish. Citrus finished 7th out of the 14 participating teams in the Foothill Invitational held at Prado Park in Chino, CA.
As she's done all year long Esquivel was the first Lady Owl through the finish line, running the 5K course in a time of 20:20 finishing in 20th place. Esquivel kept up a five minute seven second mile pace throughout the course, finishing just ahead of Acedo who kept up a five minute fifteen second mile pace. With that steady clip Acedo finished the course in a time of 20:51 and grabbed 31st place.
On the men's side, the Fighting Owls finished a disappointing 12th place out of the 14 participating teams. Gilbert Demuro (23:33/65th) and Daniel Mendoza (24:02/76th) led the charge for Citrus, crossing the finish line first for the Fighting Owls.
The Fighting Owls will look to keep on improving this weekend as they head North to Bakersfield, CA for the Southern California Preview. The meet, which will be held at the Kern County Soccer Park, is set for a 3:00 PM start this Friday October 3rd.
