Glendora, CA (Football) -- After a year's absence, the Citrus College football team heads back to the Southern California COA playoffs as a #7 seed for a first round bowl game match-up with #2 seed Bakersfield College at the Golden Empire Bowl in Bakersfield, CA.
"It feels great to be back in the playoffs," said Head Coach Kevin Emerson. "Our goal is always a conference championship, so that we can get that automatic berth and get into the playoffs."
The Owl's make the playoffs based on their undefeated performance in the WSC South. The Owl's used a balanced attack on offense, and stingy defense to get this far. "I feel good about this team," Emerson said. "We deserve a chance to play in this game. You never know what's going to happen with the rankings, and if can go out and play a good football game the sky could be the limit."
The Owl's opponent, will be Bakersfield College, who was ranked 2nd in the final SoCal regional poll, while retaining the #2 seed in the SoCal playoffs. "Bakersfield is a very good football team," Emerson said. "Their only loss was to #1 ranked Saddleback, and the Renegades are a tough and very disciplined squad."
Kickoff will be at 3:00 pm at Memorial Stadium in Bakersfield, CA. For the entire playoff schedule visit the COA website.
