High School All-Star Game Features 16 Future Fighting Owls

Glendora, CA (Football) – The 28th Hall of Fame All-Star Game at Bassett High School will feature 16 football players who have committed to continue their playing careers for the Fighting Owls. The game, which will be played on July 6th, splits the All-Star’s into two teams, east and west based on which side of the 605 freeway their school lands.

Thirteen kids from the east team coached by Baldwin Park Head Coach James Heggins, will land at Citrus next year, including the SGV Tribune Player of the Year Mike McDonough. McDonough passed for over 2,400 yards and rushed for another 1,237 yards in 2006, before falling just short of taking on nationally ranked Oaks Christian in the CIF Southern Section Finals, losing a tough 14-17 overtime game to Oak Park in the CIF semi-finals.

The Fighting Owls also have three commitments from the west team coached by Maranatha’s Joel Murphy. One of the three commitments is from Temple City standout Dwight Broadnax. Broadnax rushed for over 2,100 yards last season while averaging 218.1 yards per game. Temple City went undefeated through the regular season before falling in the CIF quarterfinals to Verbum Dei.
