Glendora, CA (Football) -- Mt. SAC, the #1 team in the nation according to JCGridwire.com, proved to be every bit of the juggernaut their supposed to be as they simply overwhelmed the Fighting Owls on Saturday afternoon, 54-14. The Mounties would waste little time in getting on the board as they scored 28 unanswered points in the first eight minutes of the game. Citrus' only first half answer for the Mounties would come in the second quarter, when freshman Treveon McNair used a six-yard touchdown run, just Citrus' second of the year, to put the Owls on the board.

Mt. SAC would respond with another touchdown and a 44-yard field goal in the first half, and opened up the second with two more scores putting the game away half-way through the third quarter. Citrus would add their second touchdown with 4:10 left in the third quarter when freshman quarterback Austin Goldsmith escaped a sack and scrambled 14 yards for Citrus' third rushing touchdown of the year.

Mt. SAC was led by freshman quarterback Nick Lamaison in the win. Lamaison completed 23 of his 31 passes for 250 yards and 3 TD's. Citrus struggled to get much offense going throughout the day, but was led defensively by none other than freshman line backer Bronze Withem who recorded 13 tackles, including one for a loss, his third double-digit tackle game of the season.

With the win Mt. SAC improves to 5-0 overall and 1-0 in Central Division play, while Citrus falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in Central Division play. The Fighting Owls will try and get back on track next week as it travels to Cerritos, CA to take on Cerritos College. Game time is set for 6:00 PM.
