    Mounties Too Much For Citrus

    Saturday, October 10, 2009

Walnut, CA (Football) -- Mt. San Antonio College, ranked #6 in the latest SCFA Southern California Coaches Poll, racked up almost seven hundred yards of offense, and held Citrus to under 150 in a 55-0 defeat of the Fighting Owls.

The Mounties scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and added another and a field goal in the second to take a commanding 31-0 lead at the break. Things didn’t get better in the second half as Mt. SAC opened up the third quarter with three more TD’s including a 54-yard variety that put Citrus in too big of a hole to climb out of.

The lone highlight for Citrus came thanks to Kevin Puckett. Puckett picked off two passes, broke up another two throws, and recorded a game high nine tackles (eight solo). With the loss, Citrus falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in National Division Central Conference play.

Citrus faces yet another big test next week when they play host to Cerritos College. The Falcons are ranked #3 in Southern California and are 5-0. Kick-off is set for 1:00 PM.
