    Triay and Wells Sign LOI’s

    Friday, February 03, 2012

Glendora, CA (Football) -- Citrus College freshman Michael Wells and sophomore Gregory Triay signed letters of intent to continue their playing careers at four-year universities next season. Wells will suit up with North Carolina Central University, while Triay will don the uniform for Southeastern Louisiana University.

Wells will head to North Carolina Central with three years of eligibility remaining. Wells red-shirted two years ago at Arizona State University, before transferring to Citrus this past season. Wells played a huge role in helping anchor a strong offensive line unit for the Owls in 2011.

“I went out there [North Carolina Central] on a visit this last week, and instantly fell in love with it. It’s a few minutes away from Duke and North Carolina and it has a big college environment feeling to it, and they want me to start right away,” Wells said. “Citrus has played a huge role for me. Without them I wouldn’t be here right now. They got me out as a one and done. They were huge on academics and that’s why I was able to get into school without a problem.”

Triay meanwhile will head down South to Southeastern Louisiana University with two years of eligibility remaining. Triay played all 10 games for the Owls this season, recording 24 tackles, two for a loss, a sack, 10 quarterback hurries, and a fumble recovery.

“I liked the team chemistry that they had at Southeastern Louisiana, and the new coaching staff they brought in. They have a goal to be a national championship team, and I liked that confidence,” Triay said. “Citrus has played a big role in this. I was able to get my grades up, and given the opportunity to develop into a stronger athlete these last two years.”

“Greg and Michael are continuing the great tradition of the Citrus College Football program as athletes who work hard and get scholarship offers,” said Citrus College Head Football Coach Ron Ponciano. “They will always be Owls, and we wish them both the best of luck as they continue their playing and academic careers.”
