Glendora, CA (Football) -- After suffering their third loss of the season at Allan Hancock on Saturday night, the Citrus College football team received some good news yesterday when Christyn Lewis and Brandon Stansell were both named Central Conference Players of the Week.
For Stansell it was his second nod in the first four weeks of the season. Stansell was again named Special Teams Player of the Week thanks in large part to his 80 yard kick-off return for a touchdown against the Bulldogs. Stansell racked up 190 all-purpose yards and ran for another touchdown in Saturday’s game.
Lewis was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week. Lewis recorded a game high 12 tackles, broke up one pass, and blocked an extra point in the game against 9th ranked Allan Hancock.
The Fighting Owls will try and regain their winning ways this weekend as they open up Central Conference play by hosting College of the Desert on Saturday. Kick-off is set for 1:00 PM.
