Glendora, CA - Citrus College picked up seven All-WSC honors this week as the men’s and women’s basketball teams closed out the 2005-2006 season. Three men and four ladies have been honored.
Grabbing First-team All-WSC honors for the men were Division I bound players Tron Smith and Daniel Fleming. Smith (St. Mary’s) had a record shattering season for Citrus, setting a new scoring record with over 750 points, averaging 25 per game. He also led the owls with 95 assists and ranked second with 46 steals. Smith was the top scorer in the WSC and was second in California. Fleming (U. of San Diego), shot a remarkable 62% from the field, averaging 11.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. He was in the top-20 in California for shooting percentage.
Earning second-team All-conference honors was Phil Friesen for the men. Friesen was a solid all-around guard for the Owls, averaging 7.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. He was second behind Smith with 90 assists, adding a team-high 49 steals.
