Hull Becomes 6th Sophomore to Sign Scholarship Offer This Season

Glendora, CA (Men’s Basketball) – Citrus College Sophomore and men’s basketball player Shaughn Hull became the 6th Fighting Owl from the 2006-2007 season to sign a scholarship offer to continue their playing career at the four-year level. Hull has signed on to become a Warrior at William Jessup University a NAIA school in Rocklin, California.

“I really like the coaches, and they seemed like high character people,” Hull said. “All the people I met from the team seemed like really nice guys who worked hard, and were just quality people.”

Hull, a six foot guard from Norco High School, appeared in 30 games for the Fighting Owls in 2006-2007 (including 8 starts) and averaged 3.9 points per contest including shooting 40% from the floor and 38.6% from beyond the 3-point arc. Hull’s best game as a Fighting Owl came earlier this year, when he helped avenge an earlier conference loss to LA Valley with 16 points and 5 boards in an 64-54 Citrus victory.

“I think I can come in and play a leadership role for the Warriors,” Hull said. “Coming in as a junior I think I can help mold some of the younger players that they have signed, and bring some toughness to the team.”

Hull’s new team, William Jessup, struggled to begin the season, but bounced back and ended their 2006-2007 campaign with a 17-12 overall record and an impressive 11-5 conference record just missing out on the National Championship Tournament.

Five other Fighting Owls from the 2006-2007 sophomore class join Hull in moving on to the next level. Phil Friesen (Montana State), Deonta Black (Cal State San Bernardino), Chad Allan (Cameron University), Aaron Arango (Northeastern State), and Kevin McCaughey (Fresno Pacific) have also all signed scholarship offers.

“Citrus College was a tremendous help in getting me to this point,” Hull said. “The school and coaching staff prepared me as a leader, teammate, and a competitor. They taught me to work hard, and what its like to be a part of a family and a team.”
