Men's Basketball Named No. 1 Seed in SoCal Playoffs

Glendora, CA (Men’s Basketball) – For the first time in Citrus College men’s basketball history, the Fighting Owls have been named the top seed for the upcoming 2008 Southern California Playoffs. Citrus, which earned a first round buy thanks to the top seed, will take on the winner of Wednesday’s match-up between #16 El Camino and #17 Imperial Valley on Saturday March 1st at 7:00 PM in the Owl’s Nest.

The number one seed is just one more tally for the history books thus far in the 2007-2008 season. Not only was this the first number one seed in Citrus history, but the 30-1 overall record and 12-0 WSC South record is also a program best, as the Fighting Owls won their first ever Western State Conference South Championship and first conference championship in nearly 25 years.

Citrus will go into Saturday’s game on an 18 game winning streak and 20 game home win streak. If the Owls are to face Imperial Valley on Saturday it would be the first meeting of the season between the two schools, but if El Camino prevails on Wednesday it would be the second match-up between those two squads this season. Back in December Citrus knocked off El Camino 95-82 in the Owl’s Nest.

Ticket prices for Saturday's contest will be $7 for adults, and $5 for students with ID, children under 12, and Citrus faculty and staff.
