Glendora, CA (Men's Basketball) -- Citrus College freshman Jose Rivera was named the Western State Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week this week. It is the first time Rivera has been given the honor.
Rivera, a six foot three inch guard out of De La Salle High School, earned the nod after breaking out in this past weekends Knight’s Invitational hosted by San Diego City College.
Rivera averaged 18.3 points throughout the tournament, and shot 52.9% from the field and an even better 55.6% (15 of 27) from beyond the 3-point arc. In the championship game, Rivera poured in a game high 24 points helping lead the Fighting Owls to their second straight Knight’s Invitational Championship.
You can catch Rivera and the rest of the Fighting Owls at home this week, as they play host to Pasadena City College tonight (7:00 PM tip-off) and College of the Desert tomorrow (7:00 PM tip-off).
