Stockton, CA (Men's Basketball) -- As the Citrus College men’s basketball team made their march towards history, Citrus College sophomore Darren Moore updated the Fighting Owl faithful with the comings and goings of the team while they were in Stockton, CA. It’s an exclusive inside look at what the players are thinking and feeling as they continue their journey to a state title. Part 8: The Owls Win the State Title
WOOOOWWWW!!!! It’s with a doubt that we are state champions everybody. We have been doubted all year from everyone involved in the basketball world and we pulled it off. I’m so happy for this team; mostly for Coach Croy his staff. They have put in so much hard work for this to become a reality.
Before the game even started, there was no doubt in our minds that we would win this game. Everyone was more pumped up for this game then I’ve ever seen. You could feel the energy throughout the locker room while we were getting ready. It was a special feeling and was even better after getting the win, because we got to bring a large trophy back to Citrus.
We didn’t really realize what we truly did until after the game when everyone was talking about it. We made Citrus history and reached the ultimate goal for our season. The only sad thing about this whole situation is that our year is over with. I truly enjoyed playing and being around this group of guys all year. We all have tons of memories together, and have sacrificed a lot to get to this point.
This could not have been possible without our supporters such as all the parents, Citrus staff, BIG TIME Scott, Andrew and student fans. We truly appreciate everyone that stuck with us throughout the year. I would like to also thank my teammates and Coach Croy for a wonderful experience. This has by far been the best year of my basketball career all around. I created great relationships with great people and bonds that will never be broken. Again, thank you, and hopefully Citrus can repeat next year.
