Glendora, CA (Men’s Basketball) -- For the second year in a row, the Citrus College Men’s Basketball team has been tabbed as the #2 seed in the South heading into the 2010 California Community College Athletic Association playoffs. The Fighting Owls will take on the winner of Wednesday night’s game between #18 Santa Ana and #15 LA Trade Tech on Saturday.
Citrus earned the second seed thanks to their second best regular season in program history. The Fighting Owls went 26-2 overall and a perfect 12-0 in WSC South play for the second time in three seasons. Citrus also captured its third straight WSC South crown.
The Fighting Owls will await Wednesday night’s winner between Santa Ana (12-14, 4th in the Orange Empire) and Trade Tech (14-8, 2nd in South Coast North). Citrus did not play Santa Ana this year, but did face off with LA Trade Tech in Los Angles earlier in the season. Citrus came away with an 86-79 victory in that game, back on January 2nd.
Tip-off for Saturday night’s regional semi-final game is set for 7:00 PM. General Admission will be $8, while students, faculty, staff, seniors over 60 and children under 12 will get a discounted rate of $5 with identification.
