Throughout the Citrus College Men’s Basketball team’s journey in the 2010 CCCAA State Playoffs, Citrus College Sophomore De’Andre Haskins will give the Fighting Owl faithful periodic insight into what is going on with him and the team. Today’s blog is the second installment of The Basketball Blog. You can read part one, here.
Saturday night was a tough game. I felt that our team was only a team that night, and we weren’t completely on the same page like a family. Santa Ana is a good team, but that is exactly what they are, a team! I've learned from my experiences this year, that it is hard for a good team to beat a good family.
Even though we won the game, everyone on our team knew that we didn’t play with a sense of urgency and we didn't compete as a family. I feel like everyone on the team was on a different page than everyone else. This upcoming week will be a great learning opportunity for all of us; we need to examine what it takes to be a championship team for 40 minutes, as a unit, and get everyone back on the same level.
On my day off I’m looking forward to taking some time to rest and go and visit my mom and family with my teammate A-Train [red-shirt Aaron DeAnda]. I plan on relaxing and thinking about the next challenge that is going to come. Until next time.
