Glendora, CA - The Citrus men's golf team opened up the 2006 season on Monday with a fifth place finish in the Victor Valley Pnoomonia Invitational, tying with College of the Desert at 208 in the three-man event. 18 schools played in the event, which was won by Santiago Canyon.
Kevin Callahan and Daren Johnson shot a 68 to lead the Owls, finishing 9th overall. Matt Marino and Kyle Mendoza followed with a 69 and the pairing of James Acosta and Cody Mullen shot a 71 to round out the scoring.
Other Western State teams at the event were runner-up Moorpark, Ventura (8th) and Bakersfield (9th).
