Santa Clarita, CA (Men's Golf) -- The Citrus College men's golf team kicked of their 2008 Western State Conference schedule on Monday, as they participated in the WSC Event hosted by Canyons College. The Owls finished in eighth place out of the eight conference teams, but showed some promise in finishing just 10 strokes back of the sixth place Allan Hancock squad.
Steve Whoolery had the low score in the club house for Monday's event, as he shot a five over par 77 at Valencia Country Club. Whoolery finished in the Top 20 individual rounds for the day, and was the only Fighting Owl to do so. Jeff Allen posted the second lowest Citrus score of the day with seven over par 79, and was followed by Perrie Garcia (83), Brett Lemster (84), and Colin Bennett (85).
With their first conference match under their belt, the Owls will hit the links again this Friday as they participate in the Rio Hondo Classic at California Country Club. Tee-time is set for 10:00 AM.
