Simi Valley, CA (Men’s Golf) -- All season long the Citrus College men’s golf team has been doing their best to keep up with the Joneses. In what’s arguably been their best season in years, the Fighting Owls continued to excel finishing 8th in the 18 team Canyons Invitational, which featured the best teams from in and around Southern California.
Led by Steve Whoolery and Sanshiro Kato’s pair of 78’s, Citrus shot a combined 399 on the par 72 course. The Fighting Owls finished just 12 strokes back of second place finisher and host Canyons College, and proved that they could hang with the best of the best. Conference competition might have played a part in that, as seven of the top 10 teams hailed from the Western State Conference.
Citrus will get back out on the links this Wednesday as they host Rio Hondo and Santa Ana College for a triangular match at Marshall Canyon Golf Course. Tee-time is set for 10:00 AM.
