Bakersfield, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The 2009 Western State Conference Men’s Golf schedule has been full of close calls. Nearly every match is decided by a margin of 10 strokes or less. Monday’s WSC Match hosted by Bakersfield College was no different, as the Fighting Owls finished fourth with a team score of 382.
Citrus finished just ten strokes back of first place Santa Barbara. Even more amazing was that a mere 14 strokes separated first place (Santa Barbara) from seventh place team (Moorpark).
Sophomore’s Steve Whoolery and Matt Peich paved the way for Citrus both shooting one over par 72’s at Rio Bravo Country Club. The duo was followed by Sanshiro Kato and Brett McCollum who both shot 78’s, with freshman Jakob Blond bringing up the rear with an 80.
Citrus has just one more regular season conference match left on its 2009 schedule, with this Wednesday’s WSC Match hosted by Canyons College. Tee-time is set for 10:00 AM at Valencia Country Club.
