Glendora, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The Citrus College Athletic Department announces the hiring of Trip Horton as the new Head Men’s Golf Coach. Horton takes over for Marsh Shumaker who announced his retirement last month.

Lompoc, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The most successful season in recent memory for the Citrus College Men’s Golf team came to a close on Monday afternoon. The Fighting Owls shot a two round score of 787 and finished 7th place out of the 11 teams competing.

San Luis Obispo, CA (Men’s Golf) -- For the first time since 1999, the Citrus College men’s golf team has qualified for the Southern California Regionals. The Fighting Owls shot a two round team score of 767 finishing in fourth place just 9 strokes off of first place finisher Santa Barbara.

Santa Clarita, CA (Men’s Golf) -- Ever since firing a disappointing 81 back on March 31st at the WSC Event hosted by Glendale College, sophomore Steve Whoolery has been one of the hottest golfers in the State. Whoolery has positioned himself into the top five individual spots in the WSC, and solidified that further on Wednesday afternoon when he shot a four under par 67 at the WSC Event hosted by Canyons College.

Bakersfield, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The 2009 Western State Conference Men’s Golf schedule has been full of close calls. Nearly every match is decided by a margin of 10 strokes or less. Monday’s WSC Match hosted by Bakersfield College was no different, as the Fighting Owls finished fourth with a team score of 382.

Glendora, CA (Men’s Golf) -- Just three days after winning their first conference meet in almost five years, the Citrus College men’s golf team was reminded just how tough the Western State Conference can be, when they finished fifth at Wednesday WSC Match hosted by the Fighting Owls at Glendora Country Club. Citrus shot a combined 391, finishing just two strokes out of second place.

Ventura, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The Citrus College men’s golf team got the taste of sweet victory for the first time in five years, as the Fighting Owls took first place at the WSC Event hosted by Ventura College at Saticoy Country Club on Monday afternoon. Citrus shot a combined 383, three strokes better then second place finisher Canyons College.

Riverside, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The Citrus College men’s golf team didn’t have the two top individual rounds in Wednesday afternoon’s non-conference match with Riverside, but it did hold the next five best scores, as the well-rounded Fighting Owls knocked off the Tigers 394-404.

Pasadena, CA (Men’s Golf) -- Freshman Jacob Blond shot a even par 72, the third best round by any individual from any team, at the WSC Event hosted by Glendale College at Brookside Golf Course on Monday afternoon. Blond was the lone highlight for a Fighting Owls squad that struggled as they finished in 7th place, the worst showing for Citrus this year.

Moorpark, CA (Men’s Golf) -- On wind blown day in Moorpark, the Citrus College men’s golf team shot their highest round of the year (396), but still remained competitive finishing in fourth place in Monday’s Western State Conference match hosted by Moorpark College.

La Verne, CA (Men’s Golf) -- Citrus College sophomores Matt Peich, Steve Whoolery, and Perrie Garcia all shot a even par 71 at Monday’s match with Santa Ana, Riverside, and Victor Valley. The trio of 71’s helped give Citrus a victory over all three schools in the four-way match at Marshall Canyon Golf Course.

Simi Valley, CA (Men’s Golf) -- All season long the Citrus College men’s golf team has been doing their best to keep up with the Joneses. In what’s arguably been their best season in years, the Fighting Owls continued to excel finishing 8th in the 18 team Canyons Invitational, which featured the best teams from in and around Southern California.

Lompoc, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The Citrus College men’s golf team continued their hot start this past weekend as it did very well at the WSC Neutral Site Event at Marshallia and the Santa Barbara hosted event at Alisal Golf Courses over Sunday and Monday. Sophomore Matt Peich kicked things off by shooting an opening round 69 as the Fighting Owls finished 2nd on Sunday.

Santa Maria, CA (Men’s Golf) -- The Citrus College men’s golf team got their conference season off to a great start on Monday afternoon, when they shot a program WSC record low of 365 at Santa Maria Country Club.
