Glendora, CA - The Citrus College Men's Soccer team faltered out of the gate on Tuesday, when they fell 0-3 to the NCSSA/Adidas #12 ranked LA Harbor. They tried to pick themselves back up on Friday September 1, 2006 when they played host to Cypress College.

If you saw the beginning of the battle on the pitch the Owls would have still looked flat, giving up two quick goals with the first coming from Jay Kinnear off an assist from Marvin Gordon in 7th minute. Lightning struck againCitrus Men's Soccer attack the ball in the 19th minute when yet again Jay Kinnear found the back of the net, this time off of a corner kick.

As flat as they may have seemed, the Owls began to rally, taking control of the second part of the first half. Pay dirt came, when in the 25th minute, Luis Jaime struck gold on a pass from Michael Sanchez. Going into the end of the 1st half the Owls found themselves only trialing by a goal 1-2.

11 minutes into the second half the golden opportunity came for the Owls when Michael Sanchez was fouled inside the goalie box, bringing a penalty shot for the freshman midfielder. Sanchez made good on the opportunity going top shelf on Cypress goalie Giovanni Guzman, tying the game up at 2-2 where it would stay until the end of the game.

Hugo Seisdedos tries to connect on a deep shotAfter giving up those first two quick goals, freshman goalie Felix Andrez settled down registering 15 saves for the game, as the Owls were out shot 27-10. Despite the onslaught of the Chargers the Owls were able to hold serve, and played enough defense to keep the score tied until the end.

With the tie Citrus moves to 0-1-1 on the season, while Cypress moves to 1-0-1. The Owls will resume play on Tuesday September 5, when the Rams of Victor Valley College come calling.
