Glendora, CA - Through the first two games of the season, Citrus College Men’s Soccer Coach Fred Bruce-Oliver, hadn’t been too thrilled with the effort of one of his best players, Hugo Seisdedos. “I’ve gotten on him because he hasn’t been showing me what he can do,” Bruce-Oliver The Citrus defense sets up a wall on the free kicksaid. “Hugo stepped up tonight.”

Seisdedos had a hand in all three of Citrus’ goals tonight, September 5, 2006, as they went on to defeat Victor Valley College 3-0.

Seisdedos’ first goal came in the 14th minute when he drilled the ball past Victor Valley goalie Brian Humme. Less than three minutes later, the Owls struck paydirt again, when Seisdedos drew the goalie out of the box and sent a beautiful pass into the feet of Fernando Placencia who buried the wide open goal, and put the Owls up 2-0.

The Owls dominated the tempo of the first half carrying a 9-4 advantage in shots into the second half. In that second half, however, the Rams came charging back swinging the advantage their way 13-6. The Rams were never able to capitalize however as Citrus goalkeep Felix Andrez shut the Rams out with 11 saves.

Citrus' defense held the Rams scorelessSeisdedos put the game away for good when in the second half stoppage time he buried a penalty kick into the back of the net, putting the score where it would end at 3-0. “I’m tickled to death with today’s game,” Bruce-Oliver said. “We needed a game like this, real fast and we got it tonight.”

This is the first win on the season for the Owls as they move to 1-1-1. The Owls don’t play again until next Tuesday the 12th when the Cuyamaca College Coyotes come calling for a 7:00 pm matchup.
