Men's Soccer -- The 2006 Citrus College Men’s Soccer Team was led by the stellar play of goalie Felix Andrez on Friday September 22, 2006, but they couldn’t pull off the upset in their WSC opener against Santa Barbara City College. The Owls were dominated all over the stat sheet, but at the end of the game the Owls only found themselves as a 0-1 loser.

The Owls were manhandled on the offensive end only getting off 4 shots in the 1st half and none in the second half. By comparison Santa Barbara City College fired off 11 shots in the 1st half and 13 in the 2nd. The Owls defense stepped up in the onslaught especially goalkeeper Felix Andrez who stopped 13 of the 14 shots on goal from SBCC. The lone goal came in the 77th minute when the Owls defense got behind Akad Raber. Raber with a one on one with Andrez fired the ball right past him and got the lone goal of the day for SBCC.

The Owls trailed in all categories for the match. SBCC had 6 corners compared to only 2 for the Owls. The saving grace for the Owls was their grit and the mistakes made my SBCC. SBCC had 3 yellow-cards to go along with their 19 fouls in the game. On top of all the fouls SBCC had 6 off sides calls throughout the match.

With the loss, the Owls fall to 1-5-1 overall and 0-1 in WSC play. Next up for the Owls is on Tuesday September 26th when the travel to Allan Hancock College for a 4:00 pm match-up.
