Glendora, CA(Men’s Soccer) – The Citrus College men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Allan Hancock on Tuesday afternoon. With a 1-0 lead going into the final 10 minutes of the game, the Fighting Owl’s surrendered a goal off the foot of Freddy Castaneda in the 83rd minute. The tie is the fourth of the season for the Fighting Owl’s.
The game on the pitch was a back and forth affair. Both teams recorded 11 shots each, including five shot’s on goal for the Bulldogs and four shots on goal for the Fighting Owl’s. Citrus’ lone goal came in the 39th minute. Eddie Gutierrez, the team’s leading scorer, sent a laser past Hancock goalie Francisco Ortiz, to give Citrus a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Hancock would capitalize on their five corner kicks, to tie the game late.
With the tie, Citrus’ record moves to 4-4-4 overall and 0-2-1 in Western States Conference play. Citrus will hit the road yet again, as they travel to Canyons College for a 2:00 PM match-up on Friday October 5th.
