Glendora, CA (Men’s Soccer) – Since the inception of the Citrus College men’s soccer program, never has there been a season quite like the 2007 season. No matter how the 2007 season ends, it will go down in the Citrus history book as the best ever for any Citrus men’s soccer team. Today they set yet another record as they became the first ever Citrus men’s soccer team to reach the milestone of 10 wins, with a 3-0 victory over College of the Canyons on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Yves Tanonko had two goals in Citrus' 3-0 win over Canyons on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Owls wasted no time in getting out in front of the Cougars out-shooting Canyons 6-3 in the first 45 minutes. Yves Tanonko was a thorn in Canyons side early on as he pounded home two goals within three minutes of each other. The first came off of a corner kick that Edgar Rodriguez sent to the far post. Defender Derek Stransky sent a header towards the goal, and Tanonko put the finishing touches on it by putting it into the back of the net.

Three minutes later Tanonko struck again taking a cross and hitting it off his head, and into the Canyons goal. Citrus’ third goal came just minutes into the second half, when Joey Obando sent a sent a beautiful shot into the goal, giving the Fighting Owls a 3-0 lead.

With the win, Citrus improves to 10-5-5 overall and 6-3-2 in WSC play. Citrus will hit the road for one of its final three conference match-ups for a 3:00 PM showdown with Glendale College on Friday afternoon. Citrus took the first meeting between the two squads with a 2-0 win back on October 9th.
