Despite ending up in the loss column after Tuesday game, it would be Citrus who would score the first goal of the afternoon. The Fighting Owls got on the board when Eddie Gutierrez connected with Yves Tanonko in the 18th minute giving Citrus a short-lived 1-0 lead.

Southwestern answered right back, when Edgar Valles kicked the ball past Citrus goalie Manabu Kaji in the 19th minute to tie the game up at 1-1. From there the game would go back and forth. Citrus out-shot Southwestern 15-12, and earned seven corner kicks to the Jaguars one.

Despite the statistical advantage, Citrus was never able to make good of their opportunities. The game was finally put away when Valles hooked up with Jonathan Cota for the go ahead goal that put Southwestern up for good 2-1.

With the loss Citrus’ record drops to 3-1-1, while Southwestern improves to 5-2-3. The Fighting Owls will try and bounce back from their first loss this season tomorrow afternoon, when they play host to LA Harbor at 3:00 PM at Citrus College stadium.
