Glendora, CA (Men’s Water Polo) – After picking up their first two wins in over a month this past weekend at the Citrus Water Polo Tournament, the Fighting Owls found themselves in a hole yet again in the very tough Western States Conference as they lost today to LA Valley 7-17.
The Owls kept it close in the 1st quarter finding themselves trailing by three 2-5, but LA Valley really began to pull away in the 2nd quarter when the outscored Citrus 4-1. The Owls would put up a valiant effort in the 3rd getting 3 goals, but LA Valley was able to match that total and add a goal with 4 goals. The 4th proved to be the same as the second as LA Valley would score 4 more goals to Citrus’ 1 to take the final 17-7 win. In the loss Connor Ruggio and Gamal Rady led all Citrus Scorers with 2 points apiece. Goalie Tony Pearson stopped 8 shots in the game.
With the loss the Owls record falls to 3-11 and 0-3 in Western States Conference play. The Owls will continue their season this weekend as they travel to Cuesta College for the Cuesta Water Polo Tournament. Games start on Friday and will go until Saturday.
