Glendora, CA & San Luis Obispo, CA (Men's Water Polo) -- After losing a heartbreaking WSC game to LA Valley, the Citrus College Men's Water Polo team came back with a vengeance winning 4 out of 5 games this past weekend.
Their weekend started off right as they faced Southwestern in a non-conference game on Thursday the 12th. The Owls were sharp as they cruised to a 17-10 victory. Douglas Moore scored 7 goals for the Owls, while Gamal Rady was equally as sharp with 4 goals.
As Friday rolled around the Owls found themselves at the Cuesta College Water Polo Tournament in San Luis Obispo, CA. In their first game Citrus easily moved past Cabrillo 14-6. The scoring was fairly even as Connor Ruggio chipped in with 4, while Bryce Mordoff and Gamal Rady each scored 3. Goalie Tony Pearson was also sharp as he recorded 8 saves in the game. Next up for the Owls was Solano College. While the team was the new the result was the same as the Owls once again won 14-6. Once again Ruggio led the way with 4 goals, and Ken Kalinisan and Gamal Rady each chipped in 3.
The 3rd game was a wash as Saddleback was forced to forfeit to the Owls for the Owls 4th win in 4 games. In the 4th game of the tournament Citrus finally hit the wall in a close 7-10 loss. Gamal Rady led all scorers in the game scoring 3 goals, while Douglas Moore and Conner Ruggio scored 2 goals a piece. Goalie Tony Pearson recorded 11 saves in the loss, and Ricardo Carrilo was swift on defense getting 3 steals.
After the weekend was up the Fighting Owls found their record at 9-14. The Owls will travel to Santa Monica next Wednesday the 25th for 3:00 pm match with WSC member Santa Monica this Wednesday.
