Glendora, CA (Men's Water Polo) – The 2006 Citrus College Men’s Water Polo team lost another WSC match today, when visiting Cuesta College won 8-17. The Owls hung tougher than the score might suggest, but couldn’t stop Cuesta when it mattered most.

Photo By: Nicki ShawBoth teams came out firing in a back and forth affair. At the end of the first half the Owls trailed by only a point 5-6. At the start of the 3rd period the Owls scored the first goal evening the game up at 6 apiece. After a steal the Owls had an opportunity to take the lead, but couldn’t capitalize as the Cuesta defense would hold them scoreless the rest of the quarter and to only 2 more goals in the game. As Cuesta’s defense surged their offense became just as deadly outscoring the Owls 11-3 in that second half.

In the loss Douglas Moore led all Owls with 6 points on the day, Conner Ruggio was the only other Owls to score pitching in with 2 points. Along with his 6 points, Moore was also the only Owl to register any assists as he pitched in on Ruggio’s two goals. On the defensive side, Ricardo Carrilo led all Owls with 3 steals.

With the loss the Owls fall to 3-10 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Next up for the Owls will be a tournament hosted by Citrus games start tomorrow at 8:00 am, with the Owls taking the water at 11:30.
