Glendora, CA (Men’s Water Polo) -- The Citrus College Fighting Owls men’s water polo team got 80% of the goal scoring from sophomore Justin Coy on Wednesday afternoon. Unfortunately for Citrus, it was 80% of just five goals, as they lost 5-13 to Ventura College.
Citrus would get in a hole very early on in the game, as Ventura jumped all over the Fighting Owls scoring four goals in the first period alone. The Pirates would score the first six goals of the game, a streak that was finally broken by Coy who scored the first of his four goals after being set-up by freshman Jordan Rivas. With such a large deficit to overcome, the Fighting Owls never really got into the game as they suffered their ninth loss of the season.
With the loss, Citrus falls to 5-9 overall and 1-1 in Western State Conference play, while Ventura improves to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in conference games. Citrus will try and overcome their second loss in a row, as they play host to 15 other teams this weekend for the annual Citrus College tournament.
