Glendora, CA (Men’s Water Polo) -- A total of five Citrus College Men’s Water Polo athletes were named to the All-Western State Conference team this past week. Three sophomores and a pair of freshman were named to the post-season list.
Leading the honors were sophomores Josh Rodriguez and Jesse Johnston who were both named to the 1st Team. For Rodriguez it was his second straight year being named to the 1st team, after he posted a team high 51 goals and 19 assists during the 2009 season. After being named to the All-WSC 2nd team last season, Johnston proved he belonged in the 1st team list with 50 goals and a team high 25 assists.
Also earning All-Conference honors were freshmen Andrew Gallegos and Greg Yokomizo, as well as sophomore Stephen Dohner. All three of them were named to the 2nd team, with Dohner picking up 2nd team honors for the second straight year.
During his freshman campaign Gallegos recorded 49 goals and 6 assists, while Yokomizo scored 30 goals and dished out 12 assists. In his final year in the water for the Fighting Owls, Dohner didn’t disappoint. Dohner appeared in 25 games in goal for Citrus recording 175 saves along the way.
