Glendora, CA - Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year Corinne Milligan was named to the All-State team on Monday, becoming the first Lady Owl in 12 years to earn that honor. Sophomore Shortstop Ebony Johnson was also named to the All-Southern California team.
Milligan has led Citrus this season with a 16-9 record and a 1.78 ERA. She went 11-2 in conference games and was forced to throw every game over the final two weeks of the season because of injuries around the pitching staff. Milligan had 88 strikeouts in 80 innings of work during the conference season, recording ten complete games and five shutouts. Opponents batted just .213 against her. Milligan was also a force with her bat, hitting .371 with team-highs of 26 RBI and four triples.
Johnson was the runner-up in the WSC Player of the Year voting after a dominant regular season, guiding the Lady Owls to a second-place finish in conference. Johnson batted .500, leading the Owls with 31 hits, 26 runs, eight doubles and six stolen bases.
Citrus won a school-record tying 29 games during the regular season and qualified for the So Cal Regional playoffs as the #12 seed. They begin play this Saturday against #5 Long Beach City in Antelope Valley.
