Hit Parade

Glendora, CA(Softball) – The Citrus College softball team continued to terrorize its competition in the Western States Conference as it cruised to two wins in a double-header versus LA Mission Thursday afternoon. The Lady Owls spread 22 hits over 10 innings in the two wins.

Freshman Alex Arguelles 5In the first game, the Lady Owls struggled in the beginning giving up four unearned runs in the top of the 1st inning. After surrendering those four runs, Citrus answered back with four runs of their own in the bottom of that same inning.

After the nightmare 1st inning, the Lady Owls settled down the rest of the way not allowing another run through the rest of the afternoon. While the pitching and defense was solid, the Citrus bats stayed active scoring 4 more runs in the 2nd inning, and a 3 spot in the 4th. Corinne Milligan scored the game winning run in the bottom of the 5th inning, giving the Owls a 12-4 win.

In the second game, the hits just kept on coming, as the Lady Owls led off the first inning with three runs. The Owls matched that total in the 2nd inning, and put up two more in the 3rd.

While the Owls bats were on fire, Milligan proved to be as intimidating on the mound as the Citrus offense was in the batters box. Milligan mowed down 9 over four innings to notch her 19th win of the season.

The Lady Owls move to 28-9 on the season and 16-3 in conference play. Citrus will be at home again on Tuesday for another WSC match-up with Glendale. Game time is at 2:30 PM.
