Glendora, CA (Softball) -- The hits just keep on coming for the record setting Citrus College softball team. After winning their first conference championship in 24 years, the Lady Owls have earned the fifth seed in the upcoming SoCal Playoffs. Citrus, who finished the regular season 35-10, will play host to the #12 seed Golden West College starting Saturday May 5th.
While the Lady Owls figured out where they would begin their playoff run, they also found out they would be the recipient of two more awards. Corinne Milligan, who was named the Western States Conference Player of the Year on Thursday, was named an All-State honoree Friday evening. On top of that, Jackie Boxley, the 2007 WSC Coach of the Year, was also named the 2007 Southern California Coach of the Year, the first time she has earned such an honor.
The Lady Owls playoff run begins next Saturday May 5th at the Citrus College softball field in Glendora, CA. The series against Golden West will be a 3 game series, with the 2nd game taking place on Sunday the 6th. If necessary, the 3rd game will be played as a double-header on Sunday.
Citrus and Golden West squared off earlier this season on Golden West's home field, with Golden West edging out the Lady Owls 3-4. Game-time will be announced later this week. Stay tuned to the Citrus College web-site for up to date information regarding the Southern California playoffs.
