Glendora, CA (Softball) -- Citrus College has begun construction on a new softball complex (diagram below) last week that will be completed some time in the middle of August. The new complex, which will be state-of-the-art from top to bottom, will be home to the 2007 WSC Champion Lady Owls softball team, beginning in the 2009 season.
“We are very excited about the ground breaking of our new state of the art softball complex,” said Head Softball Coach Jackie Boxley. “It should be one of the nicest facilities in the area, and we are looking forward to being back on campus with our student body to support us.”
The complex, which will be located north of the driving range and west of the tennis courts, will feature two separate softball fields. Both fields, will be built to NCAA regulations, and will boast artificial turf in the outfields and synthetic dirt on the infield, making weather an afterthought.
The fields will also be lighted, making way for night caps, and will each have a digital LED scoreboard, making it easy for fans to follow along with all of the action. Rounding out the amenities will be a brand new set of batting cages and bull pens, for the participating teams to warm up.
