Walk-Off Knocks Citrus Out of PlayoffsFullerton, CA (Softball) -- After opening up the regional round of playoffs with an upset win over #5 Fullerton on Saturday, the Citrus College softball team came up just short of pulling off the complete upset on Sunday as they lost 0-3 and 3-4 in games two and three. The third and final game couldn’t be decided in regulation and went into extra innings, with Fullerton winning it all on a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth. Seven Lady Owls Dot All-Conference ListGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The 2010 All-WSC Blue Division team was announced this weekend, and seven Lady Owls dotted the All-Conference list. Leading the way was freshman pitcher Kimberly Lopez who picked up a 1st team honor as well as All-Southern California honors. Lady Owls Draw Fullerton in Opening Round of PlayoffsGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The 2010 Southern California Playoff pairings are in, and the Citrus College softball team has drawn Fullerton in the opening round. The Lady Owls earned the #12 seed, while Fullerton was deemed the #5 seed in the SoCal bracket. Down But Not OutGlendora, CA (Softball) -- After getting rained out of their second game of their scheduled double-header yesterday afternoon, the Citrus College softball team came back and hosted LA Valley College on Wednesday afternoon in the final regular season contest of the 2010 season. Unfortunately for Citrus, it didn’t go as planned, as the Fighting Owls were downed 2-1. Despite the loss, Citrus had all ready clinched a playoff spot almost two weeks ago, and their season will go on. Wet and WildGlendora, CA (Softball) -- After nearly two weeks between games, the Citrus College softball team finally took the field on Tuesday afternoon. What awaited them was a wet and wild game as the scheduled double-header with LA Valley turned into a lone rain shortened game. The Lady Owls scratched out a 6-2 conference victory in six innings, despite recording just two hits in the contest. Lady Owls Drop Big Game Against BakersfieldGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The Citrus College softball team played host to Bakersfield College on Thursday afternoon in a big WSC Blue Division match-up. The Lady Owls needed a win over the Renegades to keep pace with Canyons College a top the conference standings, but the Renegades proved to be a pesky foe, as Citrus fell 4-5. Errors Derail CitrusGlendora, CA (Softball) -- After losing just their second conference game of the season at Canyons yesterday, the Citrus College softball team had a good chance to bounce back against #14 Riverside at home on Friday evening. Unfortunately for Citrus, the Lady Owls committed five errors as they suffered their second loss in as many games for the first time since early March. Mission StatementGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The Citrus College softball team continued to roll through their WSC Blue division slate, making a big statement in two dominating wins over LA Mission College on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Owls knocked off the two time reigning conference champs in impressive fashion 7-0 and 8-1. Lucky Number 13Glendora, CA (Softball) -- Who says the number 13 is unlucky anyways? While it certainly wasn’t because of luck, but rather skill, the Citrus College softball team (ranked #20 in the State) rolled up 13 hits and racked up 13 runs in a 13-0 mercy rule win over visiting Santa Monica College. No, No, NoGlendora, CA (Softball) – Citrus College freshman Kimberly Lopez struck out five batters, surrendered no walks, and most importantly gave up no hits, as she pitched Citrus’ first no-hitter in recent memory. Citrus committed two errors keeping Lopez from a perfect game, as she faced just 23 batters in seven innings in their 5-0 win over visiting Glendale College. Sweep StartGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The Citrus College softball team got a sweet start to their 2010 WSC Blue Division schedule with a sweep over defending champ College of the Canyons on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Owls took down the Cougars 4-2 in the first contest and 5-4 in the second. Softball Falls to CypressGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The Citrus College softball team suffered a 4-1 loss at the hands of #1 Cypress College on Tuesday afternoon. The Chargers three hit the Lady Owls, and Citrus struck out seven times in the loss. Very KosharGlendora, CA (Softball) -- Citrus College freshman Jessica Kosharek went a combined 5 for 6 from the plate in the Lady Owls’ triangular with Mt. San Jacinto and San Diego City College on Thursday evening... Bombs AwayGlendora, CA (Softball) -- The defending State Champion Mt. San Antonio College Mounties proved why they are considered to be one of the best teams in the State year in and year out as they hit three home runs in their 10-4 win over host Citrus College. Robles Leads Citrus With Strong StartGlendale, CA (Softball) -- Freshman Tamara Robles led the Citrus College Softball team off to a strong start this weekend at the Glendale Tournament. |
