Glendora, CA (Swimming) -- The Citrus College swim team posted strong performances on Wednesday afternoon as it played host to Santa Monica College in a Western States Conference dual meet. On the men's side, the Fighting Owls placed first and second in all but one event, while the women posted a first place finisher in all but two events.
On the men's side the Fighting Owls used strong performances in 1000 free from Mikhail Reyes who blew everyone out of the water. Reyes time of 10:42.79 was nearly a minute and half faster than the next closest competitor fellow Owl Frank Kervarec who posted a time of 12:02.25. Reyes also blew away the competition in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:03.60 24 seconds faster than the next finisher. When all was said and done the men ran away with the meet, outscoring Santa Monica 126-56.
On the women's side the Lady Owls used strong times from Parisa Dana in the 50 Free, 100 Free, and 100 Breaststroke. Dana's time of 26.38 was a full second faster than the second place finisher in the 50 free, while her time of 58.09 in the 100 Free was over 4 seconds faster than anyone else. Dana didn't stop there however, as she continued her torrid pace in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.81 another 3 second lead over the closest finisher. The Lady Owls totalled up 72 points compared to Santa Monica's 48 to notch the win.
Both teams will be at home again on Friday as it plays host for another WSC Dual Meet this time with LA Pierce College. The meet starts at 2:30 PM.
