San Jose, CA (Swimming) -- Fresh off a couple of dominating performances at the Western States Conference Championships last week, Citrus College swimmer Parisa Dana, did the same thing to far stiffer competition at the State Championship this past weekend at Ohlone College. Dana become only the 4th Citrus swimmer in history to win a state title, and the first since Lauren Witchart did it in the 100 Breaststroke in 2002.
Dana, who is also only the 2nd Citrus female swimmer to win state, came out strong in day two and three of the State Finals. On Friday, Dana came out and swam the 50 yard Breaststroke in 31.25 seconds .60 seconds faster then her nearest competitor. The very next day Dana did the same thing in the 100 yard Breaststroke, smoking the competition by more than a second with a blazing time of 1:07.06.
Dana also swam in the 100 yard Individual Medley, taking 5th place with a time of 1:02.00. Along with Dana, Citrus was represented by two male swimmers at the State Championships. Mikhail Reyes also took part in three events, finishing tenth in the 200 yard Individual Medley (1:58.93), fifth in the 200 yard Breaststroke (2:10.12), and fourth in the 400 yard Individual Medley (4:13.63). Rounding out the Citrus competitors was Glen Kalinisan who took 14th in the 200 yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:10.12.
