Three Qualify for State at Conference Finals 

Santa Monica, CA (Swimming) -- The 2007 Western States Conference swim finals was a success for the Citrus College Fighting Owls, as they qualified 3 swimmers for the state meet. Citrus also finished in 3rd place for both the men (474) and women (519), with the women coming within 27 points of second place Cuesta College.

Mikhail Reyes and Parisa Dana continued to terrorize their competition as they qualified for the State Championships. Dana, who was recently named the WSC Female Swimmer of the Year, finished 1st in all three of her individual events, and qualified for State in all three of those events. Parisa's times of 1:03.03 in the 100 Individual Medley, 31.77 in the 50 Breast-Stroke, 1:08.87 in the 100 Breast-Stroke were all top times this past weekend.

While Dana was dominating on the women's side, Reyes was doing the same on the men's side. Reyes also qualified for the State Championships in three events, as he finished with the top time in the 400 Individual Medley (4:12.08) and the 200 Breast-Stroke (2:10.74). Reyes also took 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:58.46.

Also giving solid contributions to the Fighting Owls overall point totals were the dive teams. Lisa Mooney and Christie Forster finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the 1 Meter and 3 Meter, while on the men's side Alan Crick finished 4th in the 3 Meter and 3rd in the 1 Meter dive.

Dana and Reyes won't be alone as they travel to the State Championships as Glen Kalinisan qualified for State in the 100 Breast-Stroke and 200 Breast-Stroke. Kalinisan came in 3rd for the 100 at the conference finals with a time of (1:01.72).

The State Championships take place this Thursday through Saturday May 3rd-5th at Ohlone College in San Jose, CA.
