Torrance, CA (Diving) -- Citrus College diver Lisa Mooney became the first Fighting Owl diver to qualify for the State Championships, since Erin Robinson won the SoCal Championships in 2005. Mooney took third in the 3 Meter dive, this weekend with a score of 154.40.
Mooney's score was also good enough for her to take second in the conference championships, as she finished behind SoCal Champion Tiffanie Wright from LA Valley College. Mooney also qualified for state in the 1 Meter dive as she scored 134.50 points, the sixth best score in Southern California.
Other Citrus divers participating in the SoCal Championships were Alan Crick and Mark Quinto on the men's side. Crick finished third in the conference championships on the 1 Meter dive (151.15 points) and sixth in the 3 Meter Dive (113.10 points), while Quinto was seventh in the 1 Meter Dive (111.60 points) and fifth in the 3 Meter Dive (121.45 points). Despite strong performances from both, neither qualified for state.
Mooney will finish out her season next weekend as she participates in the swimming and dive State Championships May 1st-3rd.
