Saving the Best for Last

Mission Viejo, CA (Swimming & Diving) -- The Citrus College men's swim team saved its best performance for the last day of the State Championships, as freshman Weston Locatell took fourth place, the highest finish of any Citrus event, in the 200 Yard Butterfly on Saturday evening.

Locatell, who was seeded first after the preliminaries, was slowed down by two seconds in the finals, but still grabbed fourth place with a time of 1:57.39. Joining Locatell in the individual races that day was sophomore Ken Kalinisan who took 14th in the prelims for the 200 Yard Breastroke, but fell to 16th in the finals with a time of 2:15.09.

Both Locatell and Kalinisan also participated in Citrus' final event of the weekend in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. The two teamed with Brian and Peter Smiley to take 14th place in the finals. The foursome just made it into the finals after taking 16th in the prelims, but they knocked off six-tenths of a second in the finals, rallying to finish two places higher.
