    A Tale of Two Teams

Glendora, CA (Swimming) -- The Citrus College men’s and women’s swim teams finished their regular season schedule on Friday afternoon when they played host to Santa Monica College. It was a tale of two teams in the WSC Event, as the men won easily 146-92, while the women struggled losing 63-169.

On the men’s side of things, Tony Pearson turned in two solid performances, winning the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.16 seconds and the 200 Yard Breaststroke in a time of 2:28.15. As a matter of fact, the men dominated their competition so much, that they took first place in all but two events.

That wouldn’t be the same story on the women’s side, as they failed to capture a first place finish in any event. Despite not finishing first, the Lady Owls did have a slew of second place finishes including in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (Jenn Marshall), 100 Yard Backstroke (Allison Gonzalez), 100 Yard Butterfly (Brittany Orduno), 200 Yard IM (Kimberly Aguilar), 50 Yard Freestyle (Jenn Marshall), and the 100 Yard IM (Brittany Orduno).

The Fighting Owls will take the next week off before competing in the Western State Conference Finals hosted by Bakersfield College. The event takes place from Thursday – Saturday April 16-18.
